My interests are in drawing and painting, the plasticity of the materials, and their use as language. The ability to utilise this as language becomes the obfuscation that I adopt as a means to create imagery and, as such, a vehicle to convey my interests in the conscious and the subconscious. Whilst ambiguity has always been relevant in my work, there has been a shift towards clarity of form, as opposed to the previous obfuscation of form and the assaulting of perceived realities through the aggressive debunking of falsehoods. This modification has come as a result of a newly found understanding of liminality, compounded by a curiosity with regards to existence and “non-existence”. There is a mutual transference of growth that exists between these two states of being and, is, therefore recognition of an intangible subliminal awareness. Deliberate hiding and concealing to confuse or to distract from the actual, presents the truth as actively illusive. A continual journey towards truth, amidst a cacophony of fact and deception, can only fuel my instinctive compulsion to discover, and, to increase the accuracy of my work as it continues to evolve.
